Wood Spirit Faun

$80

In the hushed dark of an ancient forest, where the roots of century-old trees lace together, a pair of blue lights blinked open. The rustle of fallen leaves announced the approach of a creature heavy with age and power. This was the Faun.

The Faun is as old as the earth itself. He was the first to wander the young world — crossing meadows, marvelling at mountains still new enough to be sharp. On those first nights his eyes drank the light of the young moon and the earliest stars. Even now, in the deepest dark, the same primordial light shines in his gaze.

What moves behind that ancient wooden mask? No one can say. What every visitor feels is an overwhelming sense of goodwill. The Faun is a kind spirit — right up until the moment someone harms his forest or his creatures. And if the Faun takes a liking to you, he will foretell the future and warn against misfortune. The ancient woodland spirit holds many secrets. They say those who have met his gaze on a forest path long remember that cold blue light — and never look at the forest with the same eyes again.

At the Faun's side there often appears a little fawn with a coat the colour of autumn leaves. Noble and ever so slightly proud, his loyal companion. They are inseparable, like stars and the moon. The fawn senses danger before any other creature in the wood — and the Faun has long learned to trust his keen instinct.

In the Faun's hand, peacefully asleep, rests a rare mandrake root. By legend, the mandrake is the key to healing and protection. The root holds the power of the earth itself: one need only know the secret words to waken it.

Being the patron of beasts and birds, the Faun keeps his secret artefacts in his leather bag. Each object holds its own power, and with them the Faun heals and protects the forest dwellers. No one knows exactly how many things are hidden in that bag — they say it is deeper than it looks.
